********************** Marine Corps League Carolina Borders Detachment 1036 Minutes February 10, 2015.********************************* The meeting was called to order at 6:59 pm followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and the POW/MIA remembrance.------ Officers present were Commandant Scott Slater, Sr. Vice Commandant John Russo, Jr. Vice Commandant Chuck Tinkham, Judge Advocate Frank Rinchich, Paymaster Lee Schell, Chaplain Bill Danford, Sgt At Arms Mike Morales, Adjutant Shirley Rust, and Jr. Past Commandant Richard Rust.------ Total members present were 24.------ One guest was present. Roger came with Scott Festejo.------ There were no applications for membership.------ The minutes of the previous meeting were posted to the website. Tom Perrrone made a motion to accept as posted. Ralph Lilley second the motion. All were in favor, none opposed. Motion was approved.------ There was no correspondence.------ Lee Schell gave the financial report.------ Member Mike Pyle was sick and unable to attend.------ Jack gave the Parades and Festivals Report. The St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival is March 14.------ Lee Schell reported that the golf tournament will be July 11 at Aberdeen Country Club. The Golf Tournament Committee will meet on February 17th at 10 am at Aberdeen.------ Jack reported that the Holiday meals for Easter and a check for Helping Hands has been planned for the first week of April.------ Tom Perrone reported that the letters are ready for the JROTC. The awards are for 4 Schools in North carolina and 4 schools in South Carolina.------ The shoot out is to be rescheduled.------ The Toys For Tots Campaign has been completed for 2014. The 2015 campaign will begin in October.------ The Marine Corps Birthday Ball is scheduled for November 7, 2015.------ The trip to New River Air Station on March 17 is confirmed. This is for Detachment members only. They will meet at 6 am at the Calabash Fire Department.------ The Washington DC trip is being planned by Richard Rust and Scott Slater. Details will be complete soon. That trip is likely to be in May.------ The Belk Charity Day Sale Breakfast will be on March 13th. The sale begins in April.------ Commandant Slater asked that members consider and make recommendations to donate funds to. We already donate to The Fire Department and to the North Carolina USO at Jacksonville, NC.------ Bill Danford made a motion to donate 0.00 to Old Dock School which was damaged by fire. The donation is to purchase school supplies.------ The election of officers will be conducted at the March meeting.------ The installation of officers will take place at a dinner meeting on April 14. Plans are being made to have the meeting at the VFW on Hwy 57 in Little River. There will be a brief business meeting, the new officers will be sworn in and then dinner will be served.------ There will be a budget meeting in April and the new budget will be presented for a vote at the May 12 meeting.------ A motion was made and approved for the detachment to pay for life membership for members who have reached the age of 80 and have been a member for 2 years.------ The MCL Department of NC Spring Quarterly meeting will be March 21st at Greenville, NC hosted by The Down East Detachment # 1186. The hotel is Hampton Inn. The meeting will be held at the American Legion.------ The Department of North Carolina Convention is being hosted by the Cherry Point Detachment. It will be at the Days Inn June 12 th and 13th.------ New member Frank Autry told us about a program at the Trinity United Methodist Church in North Myrtle Beach. It is the Armed Services Assistance program which helps with food each month.------ The closing ceremony was at 8:05 and the meeting was adjourned.------------ Respectfully Submitted by Shirley Rust, Adjutant
